Description

The Fluke 773 Milliamp Clamp Meter is designed to save you time and money by letting you measure output signals without ever having to shut down your system or break the loop. This highly accurate, portable, and versatile tool measures standard $4–20 \text{ mA}$ signals up to five times faster than traditional multimeters. By allowing you to troubleshoot a live device, the 773 ensures you can catch fleeting issues within the process that might otherwise be missed during a power down. It is an indispensable tool for working on transmitters, valves, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) found in industrial process plants, and it can even handle older $10 \text{ to } 50 \text{ mA}$ control systems, measuring up to $99.0 \text{ mA}$ non-contact.

Beyond simple measurement, the 773 is fully equipped for advanced loop troubleshooting. You can connect it in a traditional series workflow to measure, source, or simulate a control system. It sources and measures DC voltage as well, making it useful for troubleshooting devices that accept $1–5 \text{ V}$ or $0 \text{ to } 10 \text{ V}$ signals. A unique feature allows simultaneous in-circuit measurement while providing $24 \text{ V}$ loop power to test and power a transmitter. Users can also apply a $\text{mA}$ input signal to a device and then measure its $4–20 \text{ mA}$ output, or use the $\text{mA}$ or voltage output functions for controlled testing, offering linear ramp or $25\%$ step output.

The 773 is engineered for practical use in challenging industrial environments. Its dual backlit display improves efficiency by showing both the $\text{mA}$ measurement and the percentage of the $4 \text{ to } 20 \text{ mA}$ span simultaneously. For hard-to-reach locations, the clamp section can be detached and used as a remote jaw connected by an extension cable, and an integrated measurement spotlight helps illuminate dark enclosures. Features like the Hold function, which captures on-screen measurements for recording, and automatic power-off, which conserves battery life, help operators work smarter and longer.
